The age-old gender inequality in today's male-dominated society had mostly been a hindrance for the education of women. American Association of University Women (AAUW)
Founded in 1881, this is one of the oldest organizations for promoting leadership, scholarship, advocacy, and action in women, AAUW provides $3.5 to $4 million in fellowships, grants, and awards. Their domain and range is spread to a network of 100,000 members, 1,300 branches, and 500 college and university partners! AAUW offers scholarships between $5,000 and $20,000 to females in order to undertake a graduate or post-graduate degree program in various fields. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE)
Established in 1950, SWE is one of the most reputed non-profit educational and service organizations that has been helping women make a career in engineering. As per the SWE scholarship program, scholarships in engineering are provided to women who take admission into accredited baccalaureate or graduate programs related to engineering fields. Velma E. Stuit Scholarships for Women
Sponsored by the University of Iowa, College of Liberty Arts & Sciences, the Velma E. Stuit Scholarships for Women awards up to 4,000 USD to women who are in the first year of their undergraduate program in any of the following streams: mathematics, statistics, physics, or chemistry. It is considered one of the easier scholarships to acquire.
The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)
The NSBE was founded in 1975, and works as a non-profit association working toward helping and promoting the education of black women. It has a plethora of career opportunities for black female engineers.
